First Celebrity Cruise did not disappoint!

Sail Date: May 2017
Destination: Southern Caribbean
Embarkation: Miami
This was our 7th cruise, but first on Celebrity. We chose this cruise because we had not been to the 4 ports of Grand Cayman, Aruba, Curacao and Bonaire. Everything about the ship was superior to our previous experiences. The ship was beautiful, service was excellent, and our veranda cabin was much more than we had anticipated. The bathroom was large enough to move around in and we found there to be plenty of storage throughout the cabin. We did not experience any of the specialty restaurants, but found the Dining Room and Buffet selections excellent. We did have the premium beverage package and we found it to be the best bargain of the whole vacation. For us the entertainment was very good and there was plenty of it. I don't think, however, I would recommend this cruise for families with younger children or teens. There were very few children on the ship and there did not seem to be a lot of activities geared towards them. The bars were plentiful and the Martini Bar was a More blast.

The only con about the ship was the wait for the elevators. We watched elevators pass our floor empty only to have one show up packed. One of the officers told us it's just how they have them programmed. We did not let it ruin our cruise and definitely plan on cruising the Equinox in the near future. Less

Cabin review: 1C8216 Deluxe Veranda

The cabin was very quiet. Very close to central elevators.

We took a taxi from the pier to Palm Beach. We rented chairs and an umbrella at one of the vendors between the Rui and the Hilton. Water was calm and clear. There were restaurants within walking distance. Restrooms cost $1 here. Taxi was $14 total unless you took a shared taxi and then it was $5 per person.

We are not big on snorkelling and since this is what Bonaire is noted for we opted to just tour the shopping area off the ship. It was not a huge area, but did give us some walking time. We took advantage of an empty ship and enjoyed our day onboard.

In Curacao we went to Mambo Beach. Taxi was $20 each way and the beach took us about 20 minutes to get to. Most reviews talked about the rocks in the water and wearing water shoes. We did not find this to be an issue here. Water was extremely clear. The cost for entry to the beach club was $3/ea. We opted for a better beach chair for $7/ea. Umbrellas were free on a first come/first serve basis. Bars and food were plentiful. There was also a Starbucks and Subway on premises. Will definitely return.

We spent the day at the Royal Palms Beach Club on 7 Mile Beach. It was a short $4/pp taxi ride from the pier. For $2/pp you had access to the beach area and an adults only pool. Beach chairs were $12 ea and umbrellas were $15. There was a restaurant and clean restrooms. Taxis were readily available when you were ready to leave. We enjoyed the Royal Palms and would definitely go back again.
