Older ship showing its age but still nice for a quick getaway.

Sail Date: June 2017
Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation: Miami
Love, love the Serenity deck. I just wish there were more umbrellas. There was adequate attention from the bar staff and the hot tubs were great. Never had any trouble with people trying to have their kids there as I've heard before.

Sea day afternoon tea was sadly served in the "Touch of Class" piano bar so it was very difficult to manage a teacup and plate of pastries sitting on those low seats with tiny tables. We prefer the teas when served in a dining room.

Food is consistently good and waitstaff in the dining room excellent.

We enjoyed the brief stop in Key West; we rented bikes and rode all over the island. Way cheaper than a shore excursion and we got to see everything and get some exercise! The port was great in that it's very small with just a few kiosks to walk past on the short pier. Easy off, easy on. 6 hours was more than enough time there.

Cozumel is nice; been there twice and both times just grabbed an overpriced taxi and More headed to Palancar Beach Club. Laid back day on the beach with a waiter bringing food and drinks to us from the restaurant. Bliss!

I have to say that on any of these Carnival cruises I despise that the bar receipts have a line for "extra tip"...I feel that I'm made to feel guilty for not filling that in when I'm already being charged 15% - more tip than I'd normally give for just handing me a drink. Less

Cabin review: 6EU49 Ocean View

Rooms are fine; showing their age, definitely, but with more than adequate storage. Beds aren't quite as comfortable as we remember from our time on Triumph but for 4 nights they were fine. Our room steward always had it straightened up perfectly for us (but never any towel animals...I missed those, haha.) The window was nice to have.

Huge mall-like gamut you must proceed through in order to get to the taxi stand and town. Shopkeepers all at their doorways calling to you. Some good prices in the duty-free store, some not. Lovely day at a beach club just chilling on the beach swimming, eating, drinking.

Not a lot to do but a very nice morning biking all over before most people were out and about.

Can't really rate this port for embarkation as our flight was significantly delayed. The Carnival kiosk in the Miami airport rounded all of us on that flight up (even though we hadn't bought the transfer ahead of time) and made sure we all got on the bus to the port. So there was no wait. We ran onto the ship and were herded directly to the muster drill (with our carry-on luggage!) Disembarkation was smooth.
